National Eucalypt Day

National Eucalypt Day 2015

National Eucalypt Day is an initiative of the Bjarne K Dahl Trust, which aims to further raise awareness of eucalypts and celebrate the important place that they hold in the hearts and lives of Australians. The Bjarne K Dahl Trust held the inaugural National Eucalypt Day on the 23rd of March 2014. This date was chosen as it is the birthday of the Trust’s namesake and it is intended that National Eucalypt Day becomes an annual event.

On 23rd March 2015 the Bjarne K Dahl Trust in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne celebrated National Eucalypt Day 2015.  In 2015, the Bjarne K. Dahl Trust instituted a Medal to recognise a significant, sustained contribution in one or more of the fields of: forestry, scientific research, conservation, community projects or education associated with eucalypts and with demonstrated benefit to Australia.

The awarding of the Medal is based on demonstration of the candidate’s excellent contribution in one or more of the above fields and carried out in Australia.  The medal will be awarded from time to time and presented in association with the Trust’s celebration of National Eucalypt Day.
